Best Hiking Spots in Colorado
Hiking is one of the most popular activities people do while camping. There is no experience required and not much equipment needed. Not to mention the beautiful sights you can see while on the trails and the exercise that comes with it! If you’re in Colorado there are a nearly endless amount of trails to choose from, but how do you pick the best ones? Well, that’s what I am here for! I’ll help you find the best hiking trails in Colorado.
Hanging Lake
Let’s start with my personal favorite Colorado hiking spot, Hanging Lake. Hanging Lake is located in Glenwood Springs. This trail is a little more difficult because it is steep and rocky. However, once you get to the top, it is one of the best payoffs I've seen at the end of a hike. At the end, you come across a beautiful lake with an amazing waterfall! The way up is a little challenging, but once you get up there, there is nothing quite like it.
Mineral Belt Trail
This trail has a little bit of everything! Located in Leadville this hike has exquisite views of mountains as well as many historical remnants of Colorado mining country. Along the way, you will find many opportunities to view educational signs about the mining there. The Mineral Belt is rated as easy so it is good for all skill levels. Take in some nice sights while learning some things at the same time. That sounds like a good idea to me!
Horsetooth Falls and Horsetooth Rock Trail
Let’s head over to an easily accessible trail rated as easy-moderate. Horsetooth Falls and Horsetooth Rock Trail are located in Fort Collins. This trek leads you to a wonderful waterfall where it is suggested that you stop for your lunch! It is also common to see wildlife on this hike such as birds, deer, and turkey! This spot is really great for the whole family as it is not too difficult.
Conclusion
These are just a few of the many great hiking spots Colorado has to offer, but they are some of my favorites and will hopefully become some of your favorites too! Be sure to look up camping spots near your selected trail for easy convenience. For even more convenience consider renting one of our AdVANture vans as most of the hiking trails have a parking lot. That way you can drive from the campground to the trails with ease! Be sure to plan ahead and check any trails for opening dates as well as any restrictions or closures! Also check your selected trail for any sort of permits, fees, or paid parking. Now get out there and enjoy all that Colorado has to offer!
